Incident: I was writing at my computer when, by Lady Luck, I saw something outside out of the corner of my eye: a darkened figure that seemed to be sneaking around the streets. I could tell this individual didn't want to be seen. Being the paranoid man that I am, I had to go out and check. With my shotgun in the safe, I took the only weapons that were available: a large bowie knife and a small .22 pistol. I went quietly out the back door and attempted to sneak up on the suspect. It didn't work. I believe the suspect heard my footsteps on the gravel driveway. So I raised my pistol and called out. The suspect then ran down the street. I can tell you, it was FAST! I believe it ran about as fast as a racing greyhound. I let off a few shots, to no avail. I either missed, or should have taken the time to get my shotgun. A .22 pistol doesn't have much stopping power to a human, so it would be almost useless against a vampire.

I'm going to look into this. It's possible it could have been some kind of scout vampire...but I can't exactly confirm it even WAS a vampire. I don't live in the best neighborhood in the world, after all.

I'll follow-up ASAP.
