Base: Birmingham, Alabama
Date/Time: July 17, 2003/0000-0200 hours
Incident: Single bite victim; late night Blues concert at a locale called "Marty's."
One of the louder drunken attendees had been ejected from the club by the bartender, but he returned some time later, showing obvious injuries and signs of a struggle-- he was hostile at this point and requesting medical attention.
There may or may not have been a fistfight when the bartender threw him out: witnesses disagree. In any case, they assumed his injuries were due to his being thrown out. Then later, as the victim began to exhibit signs of infection, those were attributed to his drunkenness.
Fortunately, an ambulance arrived, and a quick-thinking EMT found the bite marks and administered the vaccine. Victim apparently is recovering, though still admitted at UAB hospital as of this writing.
Unfortunately no one saw the vampire attack or flee the scene; the victim himself only dimly recalls being thrown out by the bartender and has no recollection of even returning to the bar, nor being attacked by a vampire.
