Both are Science Fiction (although the author prefers the term "speculative fiction") apocolypse novels by Maragaret Atwood. She is a Canadian author known best for her book "The Handmaids Tale" which was made into a movie starring Robert Duvall.

They are about a near future where genetic engineering is the next big technological wave and...well...things go very wrong.

I would recommend both of these books and if anyone has read them (IQ, I'm lookin your way) I would welcome a discussion.

Haven't read them yet. I think I'll go read them soon.

I've read Oryx & Crake. Good book.
But it was a while ago, not sure how much I remember.

Elle, Nice to see you back and I should have guessed you had read Oryx and Crake.

Check out The Year Of The Flood. It has the same timeline as Oryx and Crake and a few of the same people but is more about the relationships of two women who belong to the Gods Gardeners, a religious eco sect that makes an appearance in the 1st book.
