Historic Document 6

By Hugo Pecos

Vampires have preyed on prostitutes throughout history. Often, they would turn prostitutes and use them to lure men to their doom—a strategy that became more successful with the rapid growth of cities during and after the Industrial Revolution. Posters, like this one from 1917, became key components of public information campaigns intended to raise awareness among both prostitutes and johns.
